SACC Chat | Etching: Rembrandt’s Legacy
Ross Woodrow
- Thursday 5 October 2023 | 6pm – 7pm
Etching: Rembrandt’s Legacy brings together selected Rembrandt etchings and prints by his contemporaries to demonstrate the nature of his innovative contributions to the art of etching as an independent medium. Alongside Rembrandt’s works, the exhibition also showcases later historical examples by esteemed master printmakers such as Giovanni Battista Piranesi, Francisco de Goya, Käthe Kollwitz, and Max Beckmann. These works collectively illuminate the enduring attraction of etching for artists and collectors from Rembrandt’s time to the present day.
Please join us at SACC for an informative talk by Prof. Ross Woodrow, curator of Etching: Rembrandt’s Legacy, which will provide more details about the works included in in the exhibition and the processes used to create them. Ross will also discuss the production of some of his own works, exhibited in Potentially Symbolic Objects.
