Music Mondays returns to the Singleton Arts + Cultural Centre (SACC) on 6 November and 4 December 2023. Robert Harris hosts these free popular music appreciation gatherings, which offer a mix of ‘Classical and Contrast’ musical styles presented through music videos and Rob’s spoken commentary. The sessions run from 1.30 – 2.30pm and always include some ‘tunes you know and love’ plus pleasant surprises.
The 6 November talk honours Remembrance Day with music of war and peace: Beethoven’s ‘battle symphony’ called ‘Wellington’s Victory’ to songs of Vera Lynn and John Lennon and wartime shows like ‘South Pacific’.
4 December celebrates the Festive Season with music for Advent, Christmas and the New Year, from the ‘birthday’ segments of Handel’s ‘Messiah’ and J S Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, to Bing Crosby singing ‘White Christmas’ and some traditional Viennese New Year’s selections.
The Parkview Cafe, adjacent SACC at Townhead Park, will be open for lunch before and coffee after the talks.
