Song of the Fish

Song of the Fish is a call to action; to care for our precious Coquin River (Hunter River). Through sculpture, poetry and video, Year 7 students from St Catherine’s Catholic College in Singleton explore how art can be a response to environmental concerns and form the beginnings of a solution. The Coquin River and its environs is important to everyone living here on Wanaruah / Wonnarua land. Song of the Fish explores and celebrates the importance of the river for local First Nations Peoples. Connections between the school, parents and the community have been facilitated through this amazing project, which has actively and authentically engaged students in their learning.
