Oribot Workshops
- 9 – 11am
- 11 – 1pm
- 2 – 4pm
Combining art and science, Oribots is the final instalment of Singleton’s Living Laneways project. Components created in the ‘Oribot’ workshops will become part of a large-scale robot origami installation to be displayed in Evidence Lane, consisting of responsive origami-robot flowers that open whenever someone walks by.
‘Oribot’ workshops will be facilitated by representatives of the University of Newcastle’s FASTLab, together with artist and inventor of Oribotics, Dr Matthew Gardiner. Participants will be provided with an ‘Oribot’ kit, which includes all the materials required and will take approximately six hours to complete. Participation can be spread over the listed session times. This is a great activity for kids over the age of 10, or anyone who is keen to be involved.
Due to the electronic components and in accordance with the Australian safety standards, children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian.
